Teguise - A Tourist Destination

Teguise is the previous capital of Lanzarote Island. It is situated inside of a volcano area that was created from the river and craters of lava. Teguise’s history can easily be witnessed in the old part of town, ´maison espagne´, whether there are old white houses and innovative architecture. You will most definitely see the work of the famous architect Manrique such as the architect’s former house and cactus gardens. There is also the Manrqieu foundation in the Taro area which is also a former home for this brilliant architect. Right now, it is home to a huge collection of modern art. The cactus gardens opened during 1990 and were the architect’s last accomplishment. It consists of botanical gardens with over 1,500 different types of cactus surrounded by original rocks.

The coast is one of the most visited destinations by tourists and is the most urban area in the island. It has different hotels and hostels, apartment rentals, restaurants, and bars. One of the most popular beaches is Las Cucharas, due to its excellent condition to enjoy water sports especially windsurfing. There is also Famara beach in the east, which is known to be a frequently visited location for surfers. There are also interesting towns you have to explore such as Haria, a town located inside of mountains, north of Teguise. Around the coast, you will find a volcanic tunnel Jameos Agua which is connected with the Cueva Verdes and the Mirador viewpoint.

Other important locations that are worth visiting is Tinajo, which is Mancha Blanca’s sanctuary. Mancha Blanca is the Dolores Virgin which is the patron’s island. Another important site is the Bartolome which reflects of Teguise’s culture. There is also the national park Timafaya which is located on the south part of the island and showcases real volcanic shows. You can also enjoy a visit to the Volcanoes route which is surrounded by the Natural Volcano Reserve. Don’t worry that it is unsafe in any manner, as there are skilled tour guides and you can even clearly see these places from a bus.

Don’t forget to try the local cuisine before you leave such as the traditional pork ranchos, boiled salt potatoes arrugadas, and all the sauces. The sea food is also delicious with stewed or roasted fish, sea bass, shell fish, shrimps, and lobsters. The most important thing is for you to enjoy this trip and have as much fun as you can.

Things to do for free in Madrid

When you are a student or on a budget, you worry sometimes that you won’t be able to enjoy Madrid as it can get a bit expensive. However, rest assured that there are plenty of free things you can enjoy doing in Madrid whether it’s sitting in the park, free entries to museums, ´locations espagne´ or even free tapas! You can go to sit or have a picnic in Retiro Park where you can enjoy the beautiful weather and even meet locals and other tourists. You can also sit out in the city squares where many people sit by fountains and watch the different kinds of street performers. There also free days at the museums so make sure you head to your favorite museum and ask them where the free days are.

You can also visit the Temple of Debod which is an ancient Egyptian temple. Madrid’s Atocha railway station is also a must visit. There you can see the tropical mini forest garden there and of course the turtles that live there. A metro ticket is usually for one Euro per one journey so make sure you purchase the metro ticket for 10 journeys which is for eight Euros to save some money. Another famous attraction is the Espana Plaza which is a monument to Miguel Cervantes and Sancho Panza. There you will also find hundreds of tourists getting their picture taken.

The bullfighting museum- Museo Taurino is another place you can visit as there is no entrance fee required to enter. There, you can get an idea of the history of bullfighting in Madrid. You can also visit the stunning Royal Palace as there is free entry every Wednesday. For bargains, make sure you head to Rastro Market to get the best deal on clothes, accessories, and souvenirs. However, make sure you go early in the morning as it get can get too crowded during the day.

There are also aspects of nightlife that you can enjoy for free. There are many restaurants and bars that offer free delicious tapas with each drink ordered such Tigre Bar. Tapas are a main dish in the Spanish cuisine. Keep in mind that most places in Madrid offer free entry to those fewer than eighteen years old and sixty five years old.  Don’t forget to also ask your hotel or the people working where you’re staying whether they offer walking tours or any other services at a low price. Make sure you have a great time in Madrid!

Basque Country

There are four important fishing villages in the Basque country which are Bermeo and Lekeitio. These villages have always been connected to the sea and a great sea adventure with maritime culture awaits you there. Thirty kilometers from Bilbao, you will find the village Bermeo, which is considered the best fishing spot and has one of the most important fishing ports along the Cantabrian. There, you can also visit the location costa brava that displays all the historic fishing items that were used as well as the techniques that fishermen have been using for centuries. When you visit the port, you will find the boat Guria, which has been changed to an exhibition centre on whale hunting. You should also check out the multicolored funky designed boats.

Eight kilometers from the city centre, you will find the San de Gaztelugatve shrine where you can enjoy the beautiful view from the coastline and watch the sunset. Off course, you can’t leave without dining in one of the local restaurants that offer the best fish cuisine you will ever find! During the month of May, the fish festival takes place whereas during September, different festivities take place to honor the saint patron. You will probably find different parades with a lively audience and of course the best fish.

Thirty five kilometers from Bermeo, you will find the town Lekeitio which is known for its quiet and peace. The first thing you should visit is the Txatvo port and then head right away to San Talako shrine to watch the most beautiful sunset. Make sure you also go on the cliffs, as the view from there is spectacular and you can also see the Cittaslow towns of Spain. The Santa Catalina lighthouse is also an important landmark and is open to tourists all the time. Then you should head over to the historic quarter to visit all the fishing neighborhoods as well as the commercial areas where the locals go out.

Other places that you must see are the Basilica Maria which consists of the largest Gothic pieces in Spain. Off course, you can’t leave without trying the delicious fish cuisine here as well. Bermeo is best known for its tuna, anchovies, and the Atlantic fish mackerel. The best time to visit the city is during the month September, as this is when the festival of the goose goes on. There you will find all the fish markets displaying their best fish along with different parades and performances.

Travel Guide to Madrid

Madrid is the capital of Spain and is the largest city. The population of Madrid is around 6.5 million. It is a beautiful city with many breathtaking attractions you have to visit location espagne piscine. One important site is the Plaza Cibeles fountain and palace which can be found in an area named Paseo Recoletoes which was designed around 1782. Another site is Mudena cathedral which was moved to Madrid from Toledo around and took more than 100 years to complete in 1993. You will be astonished when you find out that there’s an Egyptian temple in Madrid. The temple of Debod, an ancient Egyptian temple, is a must see attraction.

If you’re looking for a simpler thing to do, make sure you take a walk in the world famous market Rastro where everything is sold from food, drinks, and clothes.You can also enjoy one of the world’s most beautiful parks Retiro where you can enjoy the beautiful weather.  If you are a fan of art, make sure you visit Reina Sofia museum which is a contemporary art museum. Plaza Mayor is also another attraction where bullfights and soccer games are usually held. There are also several cafes and bars you can enjoy there and it is a very popular place among tourists and locals as well. Don’t forget to visit the Royal palace which is the official residence of the Spanish royal family.  The Prado museum is also another important site as it has one of best art collections in the world.

If you’re looking for something to do at night, there are many places you can choose from as Madrid is a city that never sleeps. During weekends or public holidays the locals are usually out till six in the morning. That is why the locals are known as gatos which means cats in Spanish. Bars and pubs there are similar to cafeterias and restaurants except that they won’t serve food except the occasional tapas off course. They are also open till the early hours. There are also bars to fit every taste whether it’s a trendy bar or a simple sports bar. Make sure you also head to the tabloas to experience some of the Spanish culture. They are mainly flamenco bars and restaurants with a show along with dinner. A popular nightlife area is the Huertas which is very popular at night and has several bars and restaurants that cater every taste. Huertas is very popular among locals. Whatever it is you do, make sure you have a good time!

Travel Guide to Barcelona

Barcelona is one of Spain’s most beautiful cities and one of the world’s most visited cities. Famous forts, innovative architectures, ´Location espagne´, charming neighborhoods, and an entertaining nightlife ensure you will have a great time in Barcelona. Barcelona is a capital of a state known as Catalonia which has its own flag and the Catalonian language which you can see on the street signs everywhere. Everywhere you go, you will find beautiful architecture and buildings which were designed and built by world-known Antoni Guadi, Miles Der Rohe, and Caltavara. Examples of these buildings are Pavilion, Casa Batlo, and the Cathedral. Make sure you also visit the Picasso museum to see the beautiful work by Picasso.

When you are in Barcelona, you will need an easy method of transportation. The city’s metro is an easy method and there are stations all over the city. Metro lines are all over the city and can be distinguished by number and color. One metro ticket will cost you around one Euro for one journey but you purchase a metro card for eight Euros and that will give you 10 journeys. . Another thing you can’t miss is the beautiful Montjuic Fountain show that goes on for about two hours so try to catch some of it when you’re there. Another important site you should visit is Güell Park, which has many important museums. You can also have a picnic there or rent a boat from the lake there. Las Rambla is one of the most well-known streets there. There you can find restaurants, shops, and lots of street performers of all kinds in this famous street. Make sure you taste tapas which are a main dish in Spanish cuisine in one of these restaurants.

Locals here are very passionate about their football team FC Barcelona. Football matches are played in Camp Nou, which is also an important site in Barcelona. When it’s full it can seat over 95,000 people. If you are in Barcelona and the weather is great don’t forget to go to the beach which also has its own port. Barcelona also has a diversity of options to enjoy the nightlife where the parties don’t stop until the early hours of the morning. Whether you want to enjoy a drink with the locals, sip on a cocktail in trendy bars, or dance the night away, there are options for everyone. Well-known bars and clubs are Boadas bar, Sports Rambles Bar, Boulevard nightclub, and Kiosk Cazalla. The most important thing is to visit as much as possible and of course have fun as much as you can!
